82 | What If Your Tears Aren't the Enemy?

What if the tears you've spent years apologizing for aren't a problem to fix, but information to listen to?

Many highly sensitive women cry easily, and most of us don't like that about ourselves. We've learned to treat tears as a verdict: proof we're too much, too fragile, too sensitive to keep it together. So we measure our reactions, brace against the next wave, and feel a flicker of shame every time the tears show up anyway.

But a tear isn't a judgment on who you are or how well you're doing. It's a data point. Like a fever, a hunger pang, or a yawn, it's your body telling you something, nothing more. And when we stop treating it as a referendum on our character, we get to actually hear what it's saying.

This episode isn't about learning to love how often you cry. It's about getting neutral with it. About trading judgment for curiosity, and resistance for release, the way a tea kettle has to let its steam out instead of holding the pressure in.

In this episode, I share:

  • When I started answering "how are you?" with "I've cried every day for 10 days"
  • Why tears aren't a measure of weakness, but your nervous system doing exactly what it was built to do
  • Three simple steps for letting a cry happen without spiraling afterward
  • A journal prompt to help you revisit a moment you once judged yourself for crying, and see what shifts when you meet it with curiosity instead

This week's invitation

Think of a time you cried a lot and judged yourself for it. Picture it fully: where you were, who was there, what was said. Then revisit that same moment, but this time let the tears be information instead of evidence against you. Notice what shifts, even slightly, in how that memory feels now.

🩵 Try the exercise. Sit with the journal prompt and notice what comes up in your body as you revisit that memory differently.

🩵 Share your shift. Email me or comment on this episode's social media posts and let me know if anything moved for you, even just a little.

🩵 Pass it on. Send this episode to the woman in your life who apologizes every time she cries. She might need the reminder that her tears were never the enemy.
